About Chak Jhumra and the needs of Social Work

Chak Jhumra is located in the third-largest city of Pakistan, Faisalabad in Punjab, on the affluent lands of Lyallpur. Being part of Faisalabad, referred to as the Manchester of Pakistan, whose foundations are its power-loom and textile manufacturing industries, it collectively boasts over three-quarters of the region’s GDP.
This chapter explains the importance of social work and motivating individuals to step up in the noble cause in Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad as an introductory overview, setting the scene with some selected examples of significant impacts and needs in the Faisalabad region generally and Chak Jhumra, in particular. It typically goes on to provide a more detailed description of the community in focus.

OPEN PUBLIC MEETING

To address the community’s concerns, Alfalah Welfare Organization organized an open public meeting (khuli katchehri) at Alfalah Chowk near the telephone exchange in Jhumra City on June 6, 2001. The bureau chief of the daily Nawai-Waqt, Mr. Kamal Nizami, was invited to the event. This public meeting lasted nearly three hours, during which Mr. Nizami listened to the people’s issues and made note of them. The gathering included local residents, officials, businesspeople, journalists, shopkeepers, and students. Mr. Nizami commended Alfalah’s efforts, particularly the organization of such a public meeting.

Following the program, lunch was provided to Mr. Nizami and other journalists, and a group photo of Alfalah members with Mr. Nizami was taken.

ORGANIZATION OF CONTAINERS FOR HOLY DOCUMENTS

In order to protect sacred and holy papers from being defiled, boxes have been installed throughout the streets and areas of Chak Jhumra. The sole purpose of installing these boxes is to safeguard the sanctity of the holy paper material. Members of Alfalah Welfare Organization diligently clean these boxes on a regular basis and ensure that the holy paper material is securely stored in safe locations.

AFFORESTATION WEEK

Under the theme of “Keep This Country Neat, Clean, and Green,” all members of the Alfalah Welfare Organization enthusiastically celebrated Afforestation Week. They planted trees at various locations in Jhumra, including the Town Committee, Tehsildar Office, and Jinnah Park. Various types of plants, such as rose plants, poplar plants, and others, were planted. Approximately 20,000 plants were planted during this initiative, and the responsibility of caring for these plants was assigned to trustworthy gardeners.

Social Welfare Officer Visit

On March 27, 2001, Social Welfare Officer Zaheer Ahmed and their colleagues conducted a visit to the Alfalah Welfare Organization office. During the meeting, they provided valuable information and effective suggestions to the members of Alfalah Welfare Organization. At the conclusion of the visit, Zaheer Ahmed expressed his satisfaction with the organization, stating, “I am really impressed by the work done by these individuals.” He also requested the organization’s body to expand its membership.

OPENING CEREMONY OF JINNAH PARK

Jinah Park is a historical park at Tehsil Chak Jhumra but due to negligence of authority’s park was closed and was become garbage area. Alfalah Welfare Organization initiate the renovation of Jnah Park Chak Jhumra with the help of local government and individuals of the city. The opening ceremony of JINNAH PARK Jhumra took place on August 1, 2001. The esteemed chief guests for this occasion were Commissioner of Faisalabad Division, Major (retired) Iqbal Raja, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Shujaat Ali, and Assistant Commissioner Ch. M. Ashraf.

During the ceremony, all members of Alfalah Welfare Organization actively participated, emphasizing their social initiatives and presenting the city’s challenges to the chief guests. The chief guests lauded the efforts of Alfalah Welfare Organization members, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the occasion.

VISIT OF TEHSIL NAZAM

Tehsil Nazim Fawad Ahmad Cheema visited the office of Alfalah Welfare Organization on February 17, 2002. He carefully observed the entire operational process of the organization and, along with his companions, expressed satisfaction with their work. They also conveyed their willingness to provide support and cooperation. The Nazim expressed his delight in seeing dedicated individuals volunteering for the betterment of their nation and country

A SEMINAR ON ITHAD-BAIN-UL-MUSLIMEEN

Alfalah Welfare Organization arranged a seminar on “Ithad-Bain-Ul-Muslimeen” at the Town Hall of Administration in Jhumra on September 6, 2001. The seminar chief guests were Tehsil Nazim Ch. Fawad Ahmed Cheema and Naib-Nazim Ch. Tariq Mehmood. The purpose of the seminar was to shed light on the importance of unity among Muslims worldwide. A large gathering of educated individuals and students participated in the event.

Speakers at the seminar included Allama Manzoor Ahmed Hashmi, Maulana Abdul Waris Numani, Prof. Ijaz Shah, Prof. Zia-ul-Haq, Muhammad Ghufran Khan (President Alfalah Welfare Organization) and others, who shared their insights with the audience. The debaters also commended the members of Alfalah for organizing such informative seminars.

A LITERARY PROGRAMME RELATED TO THE JASHAN-E-AZADI

The literary department of Alfalah Welfare Organization organized a literary program related to Jashan-E-Azadi at Government Higher Secondary School in Jhumra on August 14, 2001. This event was held under the presidency of Principal Ch. Munir Ahmed, with the participation of respected teachers and students from Global College. Various competitions including Recitation, Naat, debates, national anthems, national songs, and comedy plays related to Jashan-E-Azadi were organized during the program.

Additionally, a quiz program was conducted as part of the event. Towards the end, Principal Ch. Munir Ahmed distributed prizes among the winning participants and commended the members of Alfalah Welfare Organization for their social welfare initiatives.
